Misrepresentation

We are experienced in the investigation of acquisitions that have either under performed or failed. These situations often arise where there have been misrepresentations at the time of sale. Sometimes these misrepresentations are intentionally fraudulent.

We will typically work with a legal team to identify misrepresentations that could be in audited financial statements or in forecasts presented or in other parts of the warranties entered into in the sale contract.

We have investigated a wide variety of misrepresentations, from those involving the hiding of fraud in acquisitions, to false forecasts prepared in order to entice clients into entering into franchise agreements. This work often calls on our experience as fraud investigators as well as our commercial experience as trained accountants.
